This is part 2 of 4 covering features of the formal collective membership we just announced.

This week, we’re kicking off Study Groups, a series of collaborative learning projects.

At Baukunst, we are lifelong learners. Study Groups are topic-specific deep dives into new areas of inquiry at the frontiers of technology and design. Collective members and select outside subject matter experts come together for six weeks to pose questions, aggregate knowledge, and make future predictions.

Each study group is designed to inspire collective members both within their domain knowledge and to apply their brains, bodies, and spirits to wholly new directions.

Each study group will feature a combination of talks from expert practitioners, in-person experiences, and self-directed research & discussion amongst collective members. At the end of each session, we’ll publicly publish a summary of the study group findings.

“A river of material flows through us. When we share our works and our ideas, they are replenished. If we block the flow by holding them all inside, the river cannot run and new ideas are slow to appear. In the abundant mindset, the river never runs dry.” —Rick Rubin

We believe Study Groups will strengthen bonds between collective members, foster new relationships, help us learn together, and develop creative market / technology / investment theses along the way. We hope to:

Foster Creativity

Encourage members to ask new questions, expose one another to new areas of interest, and explore the boundaries of what we know.

Co-create Theses

Expand our understanding of advancements at the frontiers of technology and design. Develop theses (and anti-theses) around investment opportunities where appropriate.

Cultivate Community

Create a supportive and collaborative environment where participants can share ideas, experiences, and inspiration, fostering a sense of camaraderie. Create surfaces of serendipity to meet new, likeminded builders.

Archive Findings

Create documentation based on the ideas, discussions, and takeaways from the group to share with anyone interested in the topic.

Our first study group, Mycelium as Mode, is a deep dive into the wild world of mushrooms and kicks off tomorrow, February 15th.

We will engage the mushroom from the perspectives of alternative materials, psychedelic medicine, wellness culture, and as a metaphor for collaboration. We’ve engaged a diverse group of experts from across the mycology world for the collective to learn with.

We look forward to sharing our findings in early April with you. Follow along on Instagram and LinkedIn to watch Study Group 001: Mycelium as Mode unfold.

Next, we'll talk about how the collective gathers.
