Contours of CAD and AI: A Report Exploring The Future of Engineering Design Tools

For our second Study Group at Baukunst, Contours of CAD and AI, we set out to explore how emerging AI and machine learning techniques have the potential to revolutionize computer aided design in industrial design, engineering, construction, and beyond. We collaborated to envision the future of engineering design software and how it could, in turn, shape the world around us and entire professions.

Collective participants included current startup founders, previous and current execs/founders from Autodesk, PTC, Vention, Simscale, nTop, Solidworks, and Onshape, as well expert design + engineering practitioners.

As always, we center discussion around opportunities for startups to build groundbreaking new tools and durable businesses around them.
