Teardown Library Session with the NeXT Computer

Tyler Mincey

Co-founder & GP at Baukunst

This February we held an incredibly special event at the Baukunst Studio in Bernal Heights, SF.

We were joined by Ken Haven who shared his experiences working with Steve Jobs at NeXT Computer. Ken dove into the lessons he learned from one of the most influential tech pioneers, focusing on innovation, design, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Over the last 30 years at Acorn, Ken has applied these principles to create groundbreaking products across various industries.

One of our favorite NeXT principles Ken shared: no detail is unimportant. Steve Jobs was exacting, from hiring to enclosures, and design aesthetics were
not open to compromise.

Today Ken leads Acorn, a product development consultancy that has worked on iconic products like the iMac G4, Boston Dynamics' Spot robot, and the LUUM lash extension robot.

Our Teardown Library events are always packed with creative technologists who learn from taking things apart and putting them back together. Drop us an email if you’d like to become a member to join (or host!) one in the future.
