This late September, the Baukunst Collective gathered at the Hotel Chelsea in NYC for our annual Creative Technology Conference.
This is our second year at the Hotel Chelsea. We love it here because of its history as a site where collectives have come together to thrive and push their creative practices forward. Great art and influential work was made at the Hotel Chelsea, and we feel we're participating in that lineage through our gatherings there.
We heard deep dives into what's going on in the portfolio, but what members of the collective are building as part of their creative practices.
This was our first time doing pechakucha-style ignite talks, 5 minute rapid presentations. Hannah Vaughan, Chief of Staff for Sylvie, shared about her sculpture practice, and Jacob Bijani of Output showed us his chicken camera project.
Jon Hirschtick, the CEO of SolidWorks, gave a particularly memorable talk about his role on the card-counting MIT Blackjack Team that collectively won millions of dollars at Las Vegas and Atlantic City casinos in the '80s and '90s.
Our artist collab for this CTC interpreted Zach Lieberman's artwork for the Baukunst website into an embroidered sweatshirt. This was also a year of books, with Kate's book The Goddess Guide to Branding and some of the first Bindery books available.
To close out, we hosted a happy hour at the Hotel Chelsea's Piano Room with friends from all eras of our lives in New York.
It's always a pleasure to host this collective of creative technologists every year. Looking forward to seeing you at the next one!
